The aim of the proposed project is to develop concepts for Multi-player Outdoor (Sport) Game for adventure tourism and entertainment, especially for adolescent users. To reach the goal, in situ role playing, user innovation and other human-centred design methods are applied with high user involvement. Central topics in the innovation of the concepts are, for example, multi-player interaction in tourist road (Portugal Coastal Road), outdoor context, facilitating sporting and exercising experiences, adventure tourism, embodied interaction, augmented and mixed reality.
Mobile devices with increased power and faster communications are becoming more and more common in our everyday life. Today, people want entertainment in which they can become fully involved in, utilizing services that are aware of the user’s state and surroundings. One of the main reasons why people play is participating in a social activity they can enjoy with their friends. On the other hand, real world environments (e.g. parks, urban environments, forests) can provide rich stimuli and contexts for various gaming experiences. Yet, this rich and multimodal context has been very little utilized in developing entertainment and tourism services. Cross media games utilize a wide set of gaming devices, including traditional media channels, game consoles as well as mobile devices.
