I have an idea for reuse in the transportation field. My idea is to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Then use this hydrogen for combustion and the exhaust which we get is water.

This water is again supplied for splitting or electrolysis. This electrolysis is powered either by solar energy achieved through the solar panels attached on the hood or the energy achieved

through regenerative braking. This car is also braked by applying a reverse magnetic field to the coils attached in the wheel hubs as shown in of the drawings.

Project Title: Expanded polystyrene
Selected for Scholarships 2011-12, Master of Sustainable Architecture, School of Design, IED Torino

Expanded polystyrene, known as styrofoam, is an environmentally friendly material that does not emit toxic to humans or the environment of substances. It acts as an insulation material that can greatly reduce energy consumption, has sound-proofing qualities. The main properties of polystyrene due to the fact that he was on 98% of air and gas, as is known, shows the lowest thermal conductivity. It is this quality penoplastirola not allow warm air in the room to interact with the cold outside the building, that is, locks the heat in the room. Its thermal conductivity is 3 times less than the thermal conductivity of wood or expanded clay, and 17.5 times lower than that of brick.Polystyrene foam thickness of 12 centimeters retains heat so efficiently as a brick wall, the thickness of 210 inches. In order to isolate high quality building from external noise, requires a layer of foam thickness of 2-3 centimeters.

Therefore, the greater the thickness, the better you will be able to reach sound proofing. It is also a waterproof material. The foam is absolutely indifferent to the effects of substances in the cement, roofing felt, asphalt, gypsum and lime. Also it does not lose its properties when exposed to mild acids and alkalis, does not react with ammonia, asphalt, soap massage, water-soluble adhesive paints, salt solutions and many other substances.Flammability – this is one of the most important characteristics, which must meet high quality building material. Expanded polystyrene does not support combustion, and its temperature is flashing almost two times higher than in wood.In addition, the combustion of the foam releases up to 8 times less energy than wood.

This means that the temperature of the flame when burning polystyrene below. The foam flammable only in direct contact with open flames. Upon the termination of exposure occurs in the flame retardancy for 4 seconds. These characteristics make it fireproof building material. The foam does not have a high density (50 times lower than that of water), but nevertheless, it exhibits excellent resistance to mechanical stress in uniform, as the tensile and compressive strength. It is able to withstand the pressure for years without being deformed without being destroyed and without changing its physical properties. A clear illustration can be its widespread use in the construction of runways. For example, polystyrene is able to maintain their initial thermal properties for decades without deformation and without losing its structure. It was also revealed that he is able to withstand short-term exposure to low (range -180 º C) and high (+95 º C) temperatures.Based on these material properties considered in the application of this interesting addition to the techniques of packaging and boxes that are of penoplast e installation, and after opening the package peneplaste becomes a waste!

I suggest you avoid the loss of such materials that are already prepared to make the form for interior. Those can be form part of the wall, which can become a decorative element, in addition to providing estetical room which is the best also for sound insulation.

My idea is create a brand of tv series that will discuss environmental issues in order to provide the public ways of practicing sustainability and preserve natural resources, and enhancing the quality of life.

There is a growing concern about preserving the environment around the planet. Many countries seek to use alternative materials to replace and save others that no longer exist in abundance. Next to that is the intention of raising the welfare of each individual and improve relations within the home, which automatically also improves the way social interactions take place in the neighborhood and the city. And how each person can do this at home, with your community, or in your neighborhood, playing the role of concerned citizens? Eco Ideas will show you how to help the audience to do their part to the sustainability of practice tips. Sustainability: a systemic concept, relating to the continuity of economic, social, cultural and environmental aspects of human society. Putting it simply, sustainability is providing the best for the people and the environment both now and for the indefinite future. According to the Brundtland Report (1987), sustainability is “meeting the needs of present generation without affecting the ability of future generations to meet their” (from Wikipedia).

I think the public of the program is all ages and all social espheres. The program will be have a duration of 30 minutes, 24 minutes of content production, divided into three blocks of eight minutes each, with intervals of 6 minutes.

Bagabond is the perfect complement for travelers. It holds a separable outside pocket attached to the bag through adjustable straps.

Its wallet can be removed anytime you don’t feel like carrying the whole set. The wallet includes a map of whichever city you are going to, and can be changed to fit your needs.

The Bagabond has been made re-using paper maps. They have been then covered with a plastic-layer to make them waterproof and more resitant.the lightness of the paper and the possibility of wrinkling and compressing it without being damaged, make Bagabond the perfect item for travelers.

Project Title: Living Stories
Selected for Scholarships 2011-12, Master in Fashion Communication, School of Fashion, IED Milano

Project Title: Living Stories
Selected for Scholarships 2011-12, Master in Fashion Communication, School of Fashion, IED Milano

Fashion is a way of communication; the way we dress sends messages to the people that surround us each day. We dress consciously, willing to make a critic, a statement or reassure our personality. We all deliver a message of how we perceive ourselves, but also of how we perceive the world. Fashion is transformed by events, and can be used as a way of analyzing how we, as human beings perceive the atmosphere we live in. So why not use fashion as a way of keeping good news alive? I believe that everything deserves a second chance, daily newspapers, magazines and other printed versions of communication are often used just once, and the stories they tell are left behind.

So, I decided to take advantage of this material and the stories to REUSE them and give them a second chance to live in the present.

“Living Stories” suggests a new way of communication; through garments I’m giving a new life to news. A project thought to leave a statement, to evolve from regular communication to a state where we wont have to talk, but our looks will talk for ourselves. We will choose our garments depending on the stories we want to REUSE. I chose the local newspaper because in Medellin-Colombia where I was born and live, there’s always bad news over good news, and there’s been a big effort from all the Colombians to change this and become a country of good, known for it’s coffee, its people, its botanical diversity and all the good things we have. Medellin has been known all over the world for being one of the most violent cities in the world, but that’s changing and I think we have to remind ourselves every day that with hope and will we can achieve becoming the real city where flowers are always blooming, not only because of its climate, but because we may always reuse our good stories to remind us what a great city we live in. so why not keep good news alive? Stories to remind us there’s always good over bad, and that hope has to be kept alive.

Through “Living Stories” fashion will remind us that some stories have to be kept alive.

I chose 15 good news and printed them on a plain fabric, using a chemical called TULUOL which transfered the newspapers ink to the fabric. After, I chose 4 good news to reuse, and re-interpreted them through a fashion editorial, using always the same fabric as garment.

Project Title: The Dead Designer’s Closet – the Pop Up Store
Selected for Scholarships 2011-12, Master of Fashion Marketing, School of Fashion, IED Milano

Peeking through the keyhole may always reveal something curious or unexpected. If this keyhole belongs to a closet door, a little peek could become an uncontrollable desire of breaking into it. Closets are a portrait of our identity, and at the same time, they are a reflex of multiple personalities we acquire when wearing each piece of it. Therefore, breaking into a closet is the same as digging into one’s intimacy. As imagining the closet of people who wore designer clothes over decades I could not help but wonder where these clothes may have ended up. Are they being worn by a new generation? Have they been forgotten in big old family trunks? Or donated to museums? Could famous designs, patterns and silhouettes that have brought fame to many fashion designers, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, or Emilio Pucci, be available for the consumers in the 21st century?

At the new pop-up store they could.

The Dead Designers’ Closet is open. There you can find hallows that made fashion history and collections that defined a generation become available to the new fashion lovers. This is the concept of the new pop-up store The Dead Designers’ Closet: successful designers clothes are officially reissued with shapes faithful to the time, resulting into an expression of the vintage trend, the economically sustainable process and the concept of masstige.

Since the beginning of the new millennium consumers have been seeking for products that make them revisit the past, and, as result, the trade of vintage-designed items has constantly increased. This pop-up store is aimed to fashion conglomerates, which detain the rights of famous brands and, therefore, could meet this demand by relaunching old famous products and, consequently, causing an economically sustainable process. A resource already explored in the past, such as a collection that received investments on its creative process, start generating new revenue and adding value to the brand under new consumers’ perspective. As coming up with the marketing mix, one more trend could be addressed: the masstige. The concept comes from the word mass and prestige, which at first may seem contradicting, but could expand the market and simultaneously keep the luxurious approach.

In order to assure such approach, I suggest a communication campaign to the store opening based on a mysterious atmosphere, like the reading of a will. Ads will be published without completely announcing what kind of store it is, reaching mostly up-to-date consumers and trendsetters. Products will have a serial number, keeping their exclusive characteristic, but price will fill out a gap between intermediate and super premium, aiming a market expansion. The place will be a unique and irreverent point of purchase in a big city.

The Dead Designers’ Closet will be opened. Grab a key if you’re alive.
