Project Title: The Five Elements in Fashion
Selected for Scholarships 2009-10, Master of  Fashion and Textile Design, School of Fashion, IED Milano

Since three thousand years ago shamans, wizards and wise man had known the power of the five classical elements which are creating the foundations of our world- Air, Earth, Water, Fire and Spirit. They have been present everywhere around us- in every object, consciousness and event in the Universe, in every thought or action. It is believed that they are the base, “building materials” from which had been created our world.

My project is about the five elements and the way they can be used in Fashion. According to astrology, star signs reflect and govern human activity. ?ach sign is associated with one of the classical elements-  Air, Earth, Water, Fire. Everyone should wear clothes that are the perfect match for their characters identity - star sign. It will give them really good feeling of confidence, harmony and balance.

This could help us to create really good relationships between people. Therefore this will make the world better bringing p?ace and calmness to all of us. Air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) - represent the intellect and ability to reason and communicate plus mobility. The dresses are in light blue, green and white roaming freely - expressing freedom. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) - represent possessions, material resources and environment. Their clothes are mostly in green, gray and white color with origami forms. Water signs   (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) - represent human feelings, ability to love and sustain and imagination. The dresses are expressions of mountain springs with their curls and icy blue feeling. Fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) represent ones desires and creative energies.

Their dresses are in hot colors- like red, orange and yellow with extravagant origami forms. All the models will be made of silk and cotton fabrics, some printed and others with embroidery.  The fifth element is the Spirit of the Nature- Flora and Fauna. Exactly this kind of clothes will be created for all people who really love the Mother Earth nature itself. The dresses are in origami style with printed flowers- one of the models has a construction of a bird on her back made of feathers.

The main goal of this fashion collection of five elements is to remember the people what we have and how important is to appreciate it and fight to fasten the unsteady equilibrium in the world. For the sake of achieving our humanity main purpose - Better World for all!
