Project Title: Parallel Universe
Selected for Scholarships 2009-10, Master European Design Labs - Product Design, School of Design, IED Madrid

This is the main idea! I plan on spreading awareness on the importance of local brands, and the effect they have on preserving culture and suggesting new ideas, hence affecting the economy as a whole. This is the secondary idea! My product would also be a brand consultancy agency, offering services at lower prices while guaranteeing the construction or evolution of an identity and product based on proper market studies and direct consumer interaction and support. I hope to solve the issue of the underrated brand identities, supporting the smaller, sunrise industries, quickening the development process, and also supporting the unhealthy economy where big corporations come with huge budgets and strategies and take over the market, erasing small businesses and products that can be as creative and effective and a lot more environmental and organic friendly .

I have a firm belief in the importance of supporting small, specialized firms, and believe this project would be a pioneer in acting as a support line for said companies. Supporting small firms allows first and foremost for the booming of the general public, by spreading awareness and reducing the barriers to growth by offering alternatives for brand construction and development. This would also encourage new companies to emerge in the market supported by having a well developed, affordable brand identity and product understanding as a foundation.

I plan on approaching companies that have underdeveloped or outdated identities, and suggesting alternatives for them, while also providing information on the importance and the effect the evolution of the identity will have on their company. As mentioned, the company would be a directory for businesses and consumers and will have a consultancy/branding nature as well, and would hopefully instigate an interest in this market, triggering the founding of companies with goals similar to mine.
