Project Title: Have you ever thought about your trash?
Selected for Scholarships 2009-10, Master European Design Labs - Product Design, School of Design, IED Madrid

Everyday, all around the world, people throw away stuff and objects they don’t need  anymore. And everyday we simply don’t think anymore about it.

We juste keep part of these objects with us a few minutes after purchasing them and go home, until it joins garbage heap. According to many studies, each individual produces every year approximately seven times of his weight in trash. However, this trash just disapears from our home sight.

It doesn’t disappear from world landscapes, despite the fact that a part of it could be recycled and reused. Have you ever though about it? My proposal to “design for a better world” consists of an object representing a better world counsciousness… an installation that illustrates this fact, making people reflect about our daily behaviours and how it gets into a bigger problem, affecting our world everyday. The purpose of the installation is to alert for this issue, warning people for trash problems and how avoiding wastes is mandatory nowadays.

This installation is completed by several signs around the exhibition spot, teasing “Are you responsible for that?” and “Is that yours?”. Furthermore, there will be a website, that explains the concept and intensions of the instalation, a tour date and galley, ten steps how each individual could avoid waste and reduce personal trash and related links about permaculture and ecological sites.
