Project Title: “INNOCENCE…”
Selected for Scholarships 2009-10, Master of Fashion and Textile Design, School of Fashion, IED Milano
During the evolvement of human communication, colors and shapes were among the first to be developed. That proves out, that right after the satisfaction of the basic needs, the humanity started to concern about the aesthetics and art.
The cross-cultural differences and the way they affect fashion design and fashion styling in a globalized fashion world is what intrigued and inspired me to work on a subject that can be unanimously accepted from people of different origin. That’s why sending a positive message through them has always been my ultimate goal; a message namely that underlines the differences among people but embraces them at the same time. I like to create clothes for every age, every culture, every self-identity and eccentricity. Every person has its personal psychological canva to me; in my designs you are about to identify my own.
I started to work on fashion design about a year before. During this year I realized that clothing doesn’t mean particular textiles in particular shape but it marks a unique canva, on which excellent design and pattern coexist harmonically with colors and shapes, just like a piece of art. I strongly believe that these two elements constitute the best formula for an realization of the perfect clothing.
The idea of this particular project came up to me though on the occasion of a children’s party, where little children were drawing in great excitement. That made me feel that the better world premises innocence and pure love. I think that the only thing that promises to do the world better is the children’s innocence. Moreover, I made these creations only in gray, black and white, just to make sure that children’s creations will appear as important as I believe they are. I also tried that elegance coexists with childishly, weather the children’s creations decorate them or not.
Each of these creations required much more time of thinking than of designing, because an intrinsic creation seems that it comes from our mind and soul and not from our hands.
