SCHOLARSHIP RULES FOR THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR
Istituto Europeo di Design – IED international network grants scholarships:
IED Rome, IED Milan, IED Turin, IED Barcelona, IED Madrid grant 30 scholarships for attendance of three-year courses for the 2009-2010 school year.
1. Costs and duration
15 full scholarships covering total tuition fee in the first school year (adding up from 6.000 to 6,500 euro). Students will have to pay, in the first year, only the enrolment fee. For the following two school years if the student passes the curriculum examinations of each year, achieving a score of 28/30, a 3.000 euro scholarship will be granted. In case the student fails to comply with that, the scholarship shall not be renewed.
15 partial scholarships covering 50% of the tuition fee in the first school year (adding up from 3.000 to 3,250 euro). Students will have to pay, in the first year, the enrolment fee and 50% of tuition fee. For the following two school years if the student passes the curriculum examinations of each year, achieving a score of 28/30, a 3.000 euro scholarship will be granted. In case the student fails to comply with that, the scholarship shall not be renewed.

2. Admission Requirements
The special project is open to International students: i.e. students not residing in Italy or Spain. Italian and Spanish students residing abroad are considered international and therefore allowed to partecipate.
Are admitted at the selection students with a high-school degree or who shall achieve that degree in the current school year.
The selection is only for beginners : students that want to be admitted at the first year of our three year courses.
Attention: specialized Students (students eligible for master courses - with specialized University Bachelor) or eligible for direct admission to the second year of the three year courses, are NOT eligible for this selection and must refer to IED master courses selections.
Therefore: students with University Bachelor can be admitted only in case their previous Bachelor has nothing to do with the first year course they want to attend.
Age limits: are admitted students with an age between 18 years and 26 years

Those who hold a IED diploma or similar are not eligible for selection.
IED employees and consultants are not admitted either.
Each student may take part in only one of the categories of the special project.
3. Deadline, conditions and general terms
Projects should be sent by post to: Istituto Europeo di Design, IED International Office (c.a “creativediary.net” application) Corso 22 Marzo 19, 20135 Milan - Italy, or by e-mail to: scholarships@ied.edu, no later than april 1st, 2009. The expedition date shall be considered.
After preselection, projects will be published on the web site www. creativediary.net
In order to be published, projects should be presented in accordance to the terms described in section 6 of this regulation and must also include the identifying entry card attached.
Incomplete projects, which do not meet the requirements, or which do not have the elements referred above, or which contain wrong or unreadable data, or sent after midnight, April 1, 2009, will not be considered valid.
Intransgressible conditions to which applicants guarantee and respond when submitting the project are:
- The applicant must be the only person to idealize and make the project, that this project is original and not resultant of a copy or plagiarism.
- The project must not be under any property or royalty rights, or copyrighted.
The jury may, unquestionably, exclude from the selection any project that do not comply with the above terms.
IED does not assume any responsibility for conditions that are not imputable to it and that shall compromise the project remittance, such as: losses or delays due to the post office, malfunctioning of electronic devices.
Applicants authorize their personal data to be used in compliance to the law D.L. 196, dated June 30, 2003.
The material remitted by the applicants will not be returned and may be used freely by IED, without any economic charges.
Projects published on the web site creativediary.com will be object of comments, public appraisals and voting sped up exclusively for statistical aims.
4. Evaluation, attribution and communication to winning applicants
The project evaluation will be conducted by a jury made of: 4 principals (or school representatives) of Design, Visual Arts, Fashion and Communication Schools.
The evaluation will be made by the jury judgment, unquestionably. The authors of the best projects will be called to an interview at IED representatives in your county or in Spain and Italy. Winning applicants will be communicated by telephone or email by IED representative. Winning applicants must send a formal acceptance letter by e-mail to scholarships@ied.edu, within three days after the result is received. If the winning applicant fails to meet this requirement, the scholarship will be automatically considered as ‘refused’ and the jury may decide, unquestionably, to grant it to another applicant. After the applicant accepts the scholarship, he/she will have a 10-day deadline to enroll in the course to which the scholarship was granted.
5. Disputes
Any eventual dispute will be sent to a unique judge nominated in accordance to both parties, or in case of disagreement, by the Chairperson of Milan’s Camera di Commercio, Industria e Artigianato. The conciliation without any judicial intervention will happen in Milan. The judge will decide 120 days after the dispute is opened. Both parties must be willing to fulfil the judge’s decision immediately.
6. Themes and presentation criteria for the projects
The contest theme is: “My Country”. Ideas and objects to represents or characterize your country and your country life, you are free to integrate all ethnic, ethnographic and logographic differences or anything that may characterize your country.
For each IED area a briefing has been defined.
Applicants must develop the theme relating to the three-year course area he/she wishes to apply for the scholarship.
Three-year Courses: Industrial\Product Design, Interior Design, Set Design, Transportation\Car Design.
Briefing: design an object capable of interpreting your country, which represents or characterize your country, life in your country and local habits or some of those.
Three-year courses: Graphic, Digital & Virtual Design, Photography, Multimedia Illustration and Animation, Video Design, Sound Design
Briefing: express yourself designing a visual communication tool, such as a “promocard”, ”poster”, which represents or characterize your country, life in your country and local habits.
Three-year courses: Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communication, Event Design and Management.
Briefing: express yourself in your country, specific for communication in your country, life in your country and local habits by creating your own social and relationship network (your own blog, website or personal account on MYSPACE®, advertising, facebook group …)
Three-year courses: Fashion Design, Jewellery Design, Accessory and Shoe Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Photography, Fashion Editor, Fashion Stytlist.
Briefing: design a personal T-shirt or anything to be dressed up which represents or characterize your country, life in your country and local habits.
7. Submit your projects How-To

step 2. Send by email project description and creativity to scholarships@ied.edu with following contents:
- your project title
- your targeted course title
- describe idea of your project (30 lines maximum will be used for website)
- at least 4 pictures, photos, video frames or drawings which display your idea in
JPG, JPEG format, 1000 pixels minimum width, height of images on as your project require ( 72dpi in file size up to 1mb)
*optional audio or video file 60 seconds max length
