Project title: Guarani Chaise Longue - Brazil
Selected for scholarships 2009-2010, Course of Interior Design, School of Design, IED Rome
Guarani is the name of an old brazilian indigenous tribe. Nowadays, the source of livelihood of this tribe is the craftwork, which is done with natural materials like, the most popular, bush ropes. This type of craftwork is typical and unique of Brazil.
This chaise longue is built with certified Lyptus wood and braided with bush ropes. The process of braid could be done by the indigenous citizen, providing social integration.
The Eucalyptus Tree is cultivated in Brazil and was specially chosen to be used in this designed chair as it is obtained from sources which are 100% sustainable and renewable. This way we are protecting brazilian rainforests, then by doing this we are also protecting our planet.
The Guarani Chaise Longue represents Brazil as it is ecologically correct and socially honors our native people.
