Project title: My Beautiful Country-Turkey
Selected for scholarships 2009-2010, Course of Fashion Design, School of  Fashion, IED Milan

My country is located in the middle of Europe and Asia and it has characteristics of both of these continents.In the course of history,my country’s land which is called Anatolia hosted to big civilizations such as Hittite,Lydia, Byzantine and Ottoman Empire and finally my country-Turkish Republic.In this land,different traditions,habits,custom have been harmonized during history.I dedicate my project to the fascinating land which I live in.

I inspired from architecture and art of the civilizations to which Anatolia hosted and mixed these observations with my own style.I chosed Aya Sofya Mosque,Ephesus Temple,Zeugma City and Gobekli Tepe as an inspiration.Aya Sofia is one of the world’s wonders and it was used as church for 961 years and as mosque for  481 years and it perfectly sums up the mixture of architectural synthesis of west and east.At this point,I used interior appearance and its dome form of Aya Sofya.

My another inspirer is ‘Ancient Zeugma City’ which was founded in 300 B.C. in the south east of Anatolia and it is known as city of mosaics.I was inspired from one of these wonderful mosaics which is called ‘The Gypsy Girl(Gaia) Mosaic’ and tried to reflect the texture and color of this mosaic to my design.My third clothes insprier is ‘Ephesus Ancient City’.At this point,I inspried from columnars which are characteristic build of Ephesus achitecture.

Finally my last inspirer is world’s first sacred temple called ‘Gobekli Tepe’ which is located in the south of Turkey and as per archeologists,it is birth of place of civilization and it is where the story began.In this area,excavation still continues so I mixed my own imagination with ruins and findings of this extraordinary and glamorous place.
