44 Killed by Substandard Alcohol in Turkey
In Turkey, the use of substandard alcohol has killed 44 people in one week.
In one week, 44 people were killed and 30 hospitalized by substandard alcohol in eight provinces of Turkey.
Turkish police arrested 58 people on charges of producing and selling illegal liquor and seized 20 tonnes of substandard liquor.
The imposition of heavy taxes on alcohol by the Turkish government has led to an increase in the production and sale of local and substandard liquors.
